Rucker Park
LA Posts #1

Yo we bringing it west coast style!
LA is good. 4 out of 6 cars in the Fred Segal parking lot are black benzos:

We hung out with these two kids Austin and Eric yesterday.
They were tight. Super good kids and just great to be around. We need to do stuff like that all the time. WAY BETTER than a focus group. WAY BETTER. Too much good stuff to type about, but one key thing was these guys do not shop like we do. They DO NOT look at little details and look at every single product in a store. They just roll in there, look around for a couple minutes and only pick up the few things (mostly shoes) that catch their eye. They are ALL ABOUT COLORS and simple styles that they recognize such as the nike blazer shoe or nike windrunner jacket. That is what drew them in, the colors & materials. Oh, also, they are EXCITED to go to a Footlocker. That is like their spot. A sporting goods store like Dicks's is just for ankle braces and maybe compression underwear type stuff. Anyways, look forward to putting more together to share with everybody when we get back.
Here is Austin's favorite shoe:

Shopped til we dropped today. Major thing that came out of it. DO A FEW KEY STYLES AND BLOW THEM OUT with different colorways/materials/emboss/whatever. We saw it everywhere and it just works great. Vans shoes is a great example. Nike does it, little brands do it, fashion brands do it. Basically, everything is becoming a blank of sorts. It's not just tees that are being customized anymore... Here is an example of the same bag with 3 different embosses:

Alright. I'm done with the bloggosphere. Way more stuff, but I've had it.
Rob, thanks for setting up the blog! Pretty cool to be keeping record this way and sharing ideas.
Back to you NYC!

The long beginning to a short adventure
Couldn't sleep last night, too sick and too excited about heading out. The sun was amazing this morning as I awoke before it had crested over the horizon.

Boom and I flew into JFK and tried to see the TWA terminal while we were there. We didn't get to go inside but the exterior was pretty cool. Supposedly jet blue is going to do something with it. Boom thought it may have been where they shot catch me if you can. I had his back on that one.

The cab ride from JFK took all of a half hour, which is to be expected of an NYC taxi service I suppose. Loved the reflecting light of the safety glass.
As we came into the city everything got real, cramped real quick. While we saw a Bentley parked casual on the street, I like the extra effort on this chrysler. nothin' says dubs like glitter.
Had diner at this wonderful japanese pub. Haven't had ramen this good since I was back in Japan. If your in New York, check it out here.
Tomorrow more photos around the Ace and of course tons of inspiration from this fantastic trip.
